Hey I’m 18 and I got a girl problem. I’ve posted this a few times trying to be more clear each time here is the best one so far. Her and I: I have been friends with this girl for 15 years and counting. We are both the same age (18); we went to school together for 14 of them (pre-k to HS grads). We go to different colleges still near each other though. She lives 3 blocks away from me I wouldn’t say we were/are best friends but I can tell her anything and not be afraid she will look at me any different. I like to think she can do the same. The attraction: It started when we started High School. We had 2 classes together. I ignored my feeling because I was afraid she wouldn’t like me the same way I liked her. By senior year I was finally feeling ready to ask her out to see how she felt but she had a boyfriend. I never met him but I heard that he was a loser. Sure enough they broke up! The day I found out I was for lack of a better term HAPPY! I was happy because I finally knew that I might have a chance. Asking her out: I didn’t really waste much time laying some groundwork (flirting, texting/calling late at night, ect.) She never really flirted back and rarely started the convos unless we were in person where she would walk up to me and say whats up? things like that. I would say about 2months after my friend and her bf broke up I managed to ask her to be my gf. What exactly happened was: I sent her a text after we had been chatting for maybe an hour one day and said, What ever happened between you and your bf anyway? she responded with, I just wasn’t happy with him. My hopes were gaining steam and the next message I sent said, Well would you want to try out a relationship with someone else? she said, I don’t really have time for a bf I sent back of course you do if you found the right guy (in a last ditch effort to try to get me to be her bf and saving pssible embarassment) she said, I really don’t So I dropped the subject completely. Her and my Bestfriend: I was walking at the park (going to work one day) and I witnessed the two of them flirting (classic kind of laughing and teasing flirting). My bestfriend had just broken up with his gf of 2 YEARS maybe 2 weeks to a month before this. I thought to myself well If I am not going to have a chance I hope they are happy together, but as time went on he asked her out a few times and she stiffed him every time they were supposed to do something so he didn’t like that at all so NOTHING happened between the two of them. She did say that she would feel bad if the two of them ended up dating because she didn’t want to break my heart. I told my bestfriend NOT HER that I wasn’t asking her out for me but for a friend he bought it I THINK! (WHAT I SAID TO HIM WAS/IS COMPLETELY FALSE BTW I just didn’t want to ruin it between them) He now has a gf and they have been together about a month or 2 currently. My friend of 15years IS SINGLE! More recently: I have tried to forget about her. I asked out a few girls. I actually got a gf of my own for a while from about Nov.1- Dec. 17 (estimates) durring that time I didn’t think about my friend too much but when I did itmade me think why I was dating this other girl. Well since my heart wasn’t into dating this other girl I broke up with her. I tried talking myself out of being more than friends with my friend, I went over a scenario (in my head) where she had a child and the father left her. This didn’t really change my mind one bit if that happened at any point and I was still single I wouldn’t hesitate to HELP her take care of the baby as long as we could be together and even if we were unable to be together I would still help her (F.Y.I.) In other words, I LOVE HER!!! I LOVE THE WAY TALKS, WALKS, LAUGHS. AND MORE THAN ANYTHING I LOVE HER LOVE OF SPORTS! (she is in love with the Buffalo Sabres, Boston Red Sox, and less so Buffalo Bills as am I except the BILLS top my list. My question: Am I crazy for holding onto hope of dating this girl?, What should I do next?, Should I just forget about her? TO BE CLEAR: when I posted this question last time there was slight confussion so.. let me state some facts. HER AND I NEVER DATED!, HER AND MY BESTFRIEND NEVER DATED! I DID TELL HER HOW I FELT! (kind of indirectly through our text messeges but I am 100% sure she got the point I like her). I REALLY LOVE THIS GIRL! we normally don’t see each other much durring winter. We do see each other often durring summer though. So… the advice I take will be put in to action over the summer prob starting in March/ April not right away! Allot of people on Y!A seem to hold President Obama personally responsible for the conduct of the occupations in Afghanistan and Iraq, the national and global economies, unemployment, health care, all foreign policies and pretty much everything else. But, let’s say, for example that President Obama wanted to tax the **** out of the rich, bring all U.S. troops home, not just from Iraq and Afghanistan but from everywhere they’re stationed around the world, cut all subsidies to U.S. based corporations and get them out of Honduras, Haiti, the Congo and every other nation, kill all fossil fuel industries and put their government subsidies into solar power, wind, hydro, electromagnetic and geothermal and put the U.S. under a completely socialized, single payer health care system and reach out to the poor of the world with armies of humanitarian aid workers instead of soldiers? Could he do it? Do you think he’d be able to overcome the resistance of the Democratic and Republican members of the House and Senate, Wall St. billionaires, rich news anchors and media personalities, rich entertainers and actors, super rich C.E.O.s? Does any P.O.T.U.S. really call the shots and run the show, or is a Presidents’ power more a function of how he serves, or fails to serve the richest 10% of the worlds’ population that own 85% of its’ wealth and resources? Wasn’t G.W. Bush, for example, able to get so much accomplished because he was openly working for the rich and against everyone who wasn’t, while Obama can only make noises about helping the poor and winds up helping the rich anyway? Isn’t every P.O.T.U.S. really nothing more than a puppet of the rich and super rich? Hasn’t every major political and legislative victory for the people come as a result of a united, strong demand for justice from the people themselves? Aren’t We the People really in a much better position to demand and achieve social justice than any U.S. President?

Voting Question: Question about NATIONAL GUARD - MOS 15P Aircraft Operations Specialist?
I am considering signing up for the MOS 15P Aircraft Operations Specialist with the National Guard. I spoke to a recruiter in Seattle, WA who told me with this position I would not get shipped out because joining the Army National Guard is different from joining the the regular army. Can someone with expierence with the National Guard and this particluar MOS give me an honest answer of what to expect? Is there a chance of getting shipped out to war or any other location than Washington State? The main reason I would like to join is for work expierence, college tuition ( i plan on attending full time) with the future intent of getting my FAA Dispatcher license and eventually going to work for a commercial or regional airline. I have 10 years of aviation expierence already as a non-licensed dispatcher for a FAR Part 91 operator. I just dont have money for school. Thanks for your time and help. I’m Greek, bilingual, and a senior in high school. I’m deeply involved with the School’s Music department, and have achieved the ranks (several times) of a Region, All-State, and All-Eastern Vocalist and a Region and All-state Instrumentalist (Trumpet). Im actively involved in our high school’s Rep Theater Program where I have been a lead several times among the various shows that I have done, I am also involved in the Marching Band where I was Drum Major (Conductor/Student Leader) and a Lead Trumpet Player. I am the Co-creator of the Chamber Choir (what is currently the top vocal ensemble at our high school), and a section leader in our Select Chorus. I’m also the principle trumpet player of our school’s Wind Ensemble, and I was a member of our Jazz Band that were state Champions twice while I was a member (and one second place finish). Outside of School, I have auditioned for TV Shows like American Idol, and its junior version American Juniors where I advanced all the way up to the round before Hollywood (and yes, there are many rounds before your able to actually see the judges). I have also been involved with the German Club at our high School, where I held an officer position, and created a soccer tournament against the fellow language clubs at our high school. I have helped raise money at our high school for our Relay for life, and I have walked in a Light the Nights walk (leukemia). Amongst all that I am in the National Honors Society and the German Honors Society. I am currently a member of the International High IQ society, and I have been a distinguished a scholar in the Greek language (issued to me by the Greek government). Amongst all those activities though, my GPA is not where it could be. Due to some heavy negligence on my part, I allowed my grades to slip. They have gone from straight B’s freshman year, to straight A’s Junior year, and almost straight A’s senior year (1-B+). I have about a 3.65 GPA taking the most rigorous courses I could at our high school, with the exception of English (because I have great difficulty keeping up with the AP pace). I am currently enrolled in 5 AP Classes (Physics, Macro Economics, Micro Economics, BC Calculus, German) and I am basically getting straight A’s. My SAT scores are also a bit lacking at a 1990 (570-CR, 800-MATH, 620-WRITING with a 10 on the Essay). My math scores are good, but I know the English could be better. My SAT II scores are as follows (790-Math II, 650-750-Physics — currently a 660, but I retook it cause I wanted a better score and I am currently waiting on the results). Im pretty sure that I am in the top 15-20% of my class (and I would be higher), but we are not ranked so I can never know for sure. Thats me in a nutshell. I worked really hard on my college essays to try and showcase everything I could about me, Cause I really feel, that I am better than what my grades distinguish me as. I tried to do the same here just to get an idea of what to expect from the colleges. It would be of utter help if you would tell me what you think my chances are of getting into the following schools: American University Boston College College of William and Mary George Washington University Massachusetts Institute of Technology New York University Northeastern (and Rutgers, but I got accepted there :D) Thanks for your time, and let me know. I might not have clarified my GPA well enough, and I just realized I didn’t check my updated one. Unweighted it is a 3.71, but weighted it is a 4.05.
