Red Sox president and CEO Larry Lucchino remembers when the current ownership group headed by John Henry first took over the team before the 2002 season. There were all manner of questions about whether to refurbish an aging Fenway Park or build a state-of-the-art throwback ballpark just like Lucchino’s beloved Camden Yards in Baltimore.
The Sox ownership group ultimately decided to keep the team in the venerable old park and breathe new life into the place by installing the Green Monster seats—and a whole host of other amenities never previously imagined.

The Red Sox have signed journeyman reliever Joe Nelson and minor league catcher Gustavo Molina to minor league deals that include spring training invitations. The 35-year-old Nelson has played for five pro teams, including Boston in 2004 when he allowed five earned runs in 2.2 innings. Last season, Nelson went 3-0 with a 4.02 ERA for the Tampa Bay Rays before ending the year in the minors.
